I know what you mean, because I am a little confused the same language when asked if the prayer of the Offertory, too!
Some of them: Do not use prayer as a way for people to take more money to give, do not try to blame those who did not give mention the amount of dollars that the use of the church or the need for ( "Father, we know that our church needs X amount of U.S. dollars, so please move to give the person" ... you've probably seen something like that I 'm sure!)
Something short and could not seem to be aggressive, "Lord, we thank for the freedoms that we must worship in spirit and truth, and for the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord.
